In a statement here, he said the suggestion to enhance the EPF contribution to 15 percent and to increase the number of days being calculated for gratuity benefits from 15 to 30 days made by Reddy at the national plenary meeting of INTUC in Kochi were welcome.

Gurudasan demanded action by trade unions against the steps taken by central government to decrease the benefits under EPF including pension commutation.

He wanted the Centre to increase the gratuity limit of employees in the public and organised sector from Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. The centre's moves to dispose of shares in PSUs should also be withdrawn, he said.
