Mother killed by mentally deranged son

A mentally deranged man killed his mother following an altercation in Sonitpur district, police said. The 30-year old man, identified as Khagen Tanti, attacked his mother, Rani Tanti, with a sharp weapon after she refused to serve him food.

The 30-year old man, identified as Khagen Tanti, attacked his mother, Rani Tanti, with a sharp weapon after she refused to serve him food at 5.30 am at Kherbari area under Gohpur sub-division of the district.

The mother was killed on the spot and Tanti, who neighbours claim is mentally deranged, has been taken into custody.

Meanwhile, an unidentified decomposed body of a man with the head and arms missing and bearing injury marks was recovered from Brahmajan tea estate of the district, sources added.
