"Gujarat, UP, Bihar ki piti film ko MP waale nahi jhelenge, kyunki hum flop filmein nahi dekhte (People of MP would not watch a film which was a flop in Gujarat, UP and Bihar beacause we don’t watch flop movies)", said Vijayvargiya when asked about Rahul Gandhi’s two-day visit to the state beginning Wednesday.

He was talking to journalists in Neemuch, more than 425km northwest of Bhopal on Tuesday.

When told that the people of Neemuch were facing a water crisis, the minister targeted local MP Meenakshi Natrajan, saying: "Unhe to Rahul Gandhi ki maalish karne se fursat nahi hai (She doesn’t have time to spare, she’s busy buttering Rahul Gandhi)."

Later, however, fearing backlash against his gender-insensitive statemen, Vijayvargiya backtracked.
