The special task force (STF) investigating the pre-medical test (PMT) fraud has found that the gang involved had 'helped' nearly 700 candidates appear in the test in the year 2012 too.
Though it is not clear how many of these candiates cracked the exam or got admission in medical colleges, the STF has found that they were in touch with the members of the racket and their roll numbers had been tampered by officials of the professional examination board (PEB) involved in the racket.
On the basis of this information obtained following interrogation of the gang members and PEB officials who are on remand, the STF has registered a fresh case against the gang. Earlier, a case was registered for the fraud in PMT this year (2013) and examination of nearly 345 candidates was cancelled.
The STF has now sought details of all candidates who had appeared in PMT 2012 from the PEB and the details of all the students who were given admision in different private and government medical and dental colleges through PMT that year from the directorate of medical education. Action is expected on candidates/students whose cases are found suspect.

Later, the interrogation with former controller of examination, Pankaj Trivedi, principal system analyst Nitin Mahindra, Ajay Sen, CK Mishra apart from Dr Sanjeev Shilpkar and Vikas Singh, who were arrested earlier, revealed that the gang had helped medical aspirants pass the PMT with the same modus operandi earlier in 2012.

{{/usCountry}}The analysis of computer data for PMT 2012 revealed that around 700 candidates' roll numbers were irregular. The roll number sequence was found tampered. This suggested that these candidates' sitting arrangement was rearranged, so that 'scorers' could be made to sit next to them, in order to help them crack the PMT.
