The meeting would be held in Bhopal on Sunday. Chief Secretary and MPSEB Chairman Rakesh Sahani would chair the meeting. The leaders of recognised workers body, the Madhya Pradesh Vidyut Karmachari Sangh Federation that is largely believed to be management-friendly, would also take part in it.
The salaries of Board employees have not been revised since April 1, 1999 and the staffers are unhappy with the management. Workers’ unions have organised several protests to press for wage revision.
Meanwhile, convenor of the Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Employees & Engineers Coordination Committee (MPSEECC) Vinay Pandey said they are hopeful that the Board management would respect the feeling of workers while taking a decision on wage revision. MPSEECC is an umbrella body of 17 workers bodies.
Even though the work force in the Board has gone down, record revenue collection for last month (March) was nearly Rs 700 crore. Keeping this in view, employees’ work should be recognised in wage revision, he said.
