Mulayam's cousin denies he apologised to Amar Singh

"The impression given by Amar Singh before a TV channel yesterday was not correct. I never tendered any apology to anyone," Ram Gopal Yadav, a powerful party general secretary, said at a press conference here.

"All I had said was that whenever there are four utensils in a house, they are bound to make some noise," he said. "But whatever the misgivings, everything between us has been sorted out," he said.

In an obvious reference to Mulayam Singh's refusal to accept Amar Singh's resignation, he said, "The party president's word is supreme for all of us in the party and once he has taken a decision, there can be no dispute on that."

Ram Gopal Yadav, who had earlier openly condemned Amar Singh, said: "He is welcome to join us at the Saifai Festival and I would be only too glad to receive him here. He would be our guest at the cultural event and we have always believed in treating our guests like god."
