The financial capital was limping back to normalcy after there was a let-up in the rains that pounded the city since Tuesday night and road and rail traffic were slowly being restored.
Heavy rains that persisted since the wee hours of Wednesday reduced by the afternoon bringing some respite for
Mumbaikars.
Waterlogging was reported in many low-lying areas of the city in the morning, compounding woes of the people who are also facing a 30 per cent water cut.
The civic officials, said, catchment areas which supply water to the city have not received rainfall. Air traffic at the city's airport was affected for half an hour and the Air Traffic Control stopped runway operations due to poor visibility at 9.45 am, a spokesperson of the Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) told PTI.
However, operations on the runway resumed at 10.15 am but flight services were affected due to poor visibility, the spokesperson said, adding there was an average delay of 15 minutes in flights arriving in the city and about 30 minutes in departures.
Rail services which were delayed by up to 30 minutes on Central Main and Harbour lines due to water logging were close to normal by afternoon. Services on Western Railways were delayed by 5 to 10 minutes, officials said.
