"The National Games will be held as scheduled and all security issues will be handled by the agencies concerned," he said. However, he added that his ministry is not among those agencies.

The Games, to be held from February 9-18, had come under a shadow following a series of attacks carried out by separatist guerrillas in the state, which had claimed around 80 lives.

The minister said these attacks would in no way affect the Games.
