The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has said that it will continue its electoral alliance with Congress in Goa for the next assembly elections.
NCP's Goa desk incharge Prakash Bhingsale told reporters that the Sharad Pawar-led party wanted to have healthy alliance with Congress to ensure that secular votes are not divided.
"We always like to ensure that there is no division of votes. Thats why our emphasis will be to forge alliance with Congress," Bhingsale said. NCP and Congress are in coalition in Goa, Maharashtra and the Centre. But in Goa, the tension underlines the relations between both the parties.
Admitting that there are internal issues, Bhingsale said that such tensions do occur in a coalition. "I agree that few of our workers feel that Congress is giving them step-motherly treatment. But its just a feeling," said the NCP leader. He said the party will never discuss the niggling issues in public between two coalition partners.
"We will sit and sort it out in coordination committee meetings," he said adding whatever differences exist between coalition partners, would be settled soon. Responding to a question, the NCP leader said that it is not possible to have code of conduct for the party leaders.
"How can you have a code of conduct? Every political person faces some or other allegations. And when they are asked about it they claim it to be wrong," he said. On Goa NCP legislator Micky Pacheco's involvement in various controversies, Bhingsale said Pacheco cannot be held guilty before he is tried by the court. "NCP will take appropriate action at appropriate time. Whatever that has appeared now is just in media. We will investigate the allegations against him," he said.
