A newborn baby girl was found dumped behind bushes near a cancer hospital in Kanchipuram, police said on Thursday.
The cries of the one-day-old baby attracted the attention of the passers-by who took it to the government hospital on Wednesday, where the infant is being treated, they said.

The baby would later be taken to a government-approved child care centre, they added.
