The Uttar Pradesh police probing the killing of National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer Mohammad Tanzil Ahmed believe personal enmity to be the motive behind the murder on Tuesday, as they released photographs of two unidentified guests at a wedding the cop attended as prime suspect.
A police officer said the investigation team has important leads and the case might be worked out in a day or two, he said.
Eight teams had been constituted to work out the murder case. The teams also probed terror aspects, role of fake Indian currency note and narcotics smugglers and hawala traders active in West UP.
“We tried to find out if the terror outfits retaliated with eliminating a proficient officer”, said a police officer. He added there was not enough clues to suggest so.
The modus operandi of the killer also points toward the personal enmity. The shooter fired 24 rounds mortally injuring Ahmed. The killers did not touch the children and his wife received bullet injury since she was seated on the front seat.

{{/usCountry}}Farzana, 40, was brought to Fortis Hospital with four bullet injuries on Sunday. She was hit in her abdomen and leg, hospital sources said. One of the bullets has pierced through her intestine, and a life-saving surgery was performed immediately after she was brought to the hospital emergency.
SP, Bijnor, Subhash Singh Baghel, said, “On Monday the police team scanned the video footage of the wedding but family members failed to identify two persons present in the wedding. Now, one person has been identified as Aarshi, a family friend. The identification of the second person is yet to be established.”
During investigation, cops found that Ahmed’s family had a property dispute with villagers. Ahmed had visited his native place, Sahaspur, frequently in recent days. On Tuesday, family members identified one person in the wedding video footage. The second person is yet to be identified.
Talking to HT, IGP, Bareilly Zone, Vijay Singh Meena said: “Police have not released the video footage and photographs of the motorcycle-borne people moving on Seohara-Sahaspur highway on Saturday night. They are on job and the case is likely to be worked out soon,” he said.
