Some residents entered into heated arguments with the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation staff over uprooting of electric poles along the road this afternoon. They also misbehaved with the employees.
District magistrate Amrit Abhijat inspected Katra area on Tuesday and reviewed the work going on there.
He said electric poles would be completely shifted by September 21. He told a gathering of traders that the main route from Manmohan Park to Pani Ki Tanki crossing would bear a new look within 20 days after getting rid of traffic jams and other problems.
The DM, accompanied with municipal commissioner Satya Narayan Srivastava and UPPCL deputy general manager Shakti Singh, remained in the area for one hour and inspected the work.
The DM expressed apprehension that there might be some hurdles in the work because of Dussehra and Ramdal. He asked NN chief engineer RK Verma to use additional machines and manpower, if necessary, to complete the work on time.
Office bearers of Katra Vyapar Mandal, including Shiv Murat Jaiswal and Katra Ramleela committee’s Mohanji, hailed the lighting and beautification of Katra and demanded completion of work at the earliest.
Anil Jaiswal, a businessman, demanded parking slot in the nearby area so that traffic jam on Katra main crossing to Colenelganj crossing could be
