Days after an Aurangabad (Bihar) family claimed that the 10-year-old 'Sikh' boy found abandoned in the UK was theirs, a family of Tanda Ram Sahai village in Mukerian has come up with a similar claim.
Kuldip Singh, claiming to be the boy's uncle, on Monday met the media to present the family's claim in the presence of MP Avinash Rai Khanna and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha state vice-president Sanjiv Talwar.
Showing family pictures, he said the boy was Gurinder Singh. He said his brother Mohinder Singh, who is working abroad, had strained relations with his wife Deepinder Kaur. Deepinder had started living with her parents in Jalalpur village, along with Gurinder and her 13-year-old daughter Navjit Kaur, about two years ago. She had also filed a divorce case in a district court, Kuldip said.
He alleged that Deepinder subsequently started sending illegal migrants to foreign countries and herself sneaked into the UK early this month with Gurinder, leaving the daughter with her parents. Once there, she abandoned her son, Kuldip said. However, Kuldip failed to give a reason behind Deepinder abandoning her son.
Claiming that the boy was a student of Dashmesh Public School, Mukerian, Kuldip showed a school certificates that carried the date of birth as April 21, 1999. As per the record, Gurinder left the school in March 2006. Kuldip said a DNA test could confirm his claims.
