NATIONAL PRESIDENT of the Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society of India (FOGSI) Dr Daru Shah said that problems like aggressiveness, lack of sleep and depression were common among women during the menopause stage.

He said this while addressing a seminar, organised by the FOGSI here today.
According to Dr Shah when women start having these problems when they reach the age of 40. Their bones become weak and brittle, and there is every possibility that they could face the risk of osteoporosis. Dr Shah said that proper intake of calcium, nutrition, and physical exercise could help in reducing the danger of osteoporosis.
The FOGSI president said that the menopause would not hold back women from producing babies. They could go for test tube babies, he said.
Dr Shah said that under a Central programme proper medical treatment would be available to pregnant women. The FOGSI would train MBBS doctors of the primary health centres to carry out normal or Caesarean delivery in the rural areas and for which Rs 25 crore had been kept aside by the Union Government.
The Society was also thinking of imparting training to even nurses to enhance the manpower, Dr Shah said.

{{/usCountry}}New injection developed: The doctors have developed a new injection to prevent cervix cancer among women. “If injected to an unmarried girl, she would be protected from the danger of cervix cancer throughout her life. At present the clinical trial of the injection was going on, said Dr Pankaj Desai from Baroda.
While addressing the media persons here on Saturday, he said: “There were various other reasons for early abortions. It could be high blood pressure or any other reason. But, he said bleeding during the eighth or ninth month of the pregnancy could be fatal for the baby and the mother.
