Teenagers and youths were seen thronging the City’s food joints, ice-cream parlours and restaurants. Prominent hotels in the City were busy organising dances to the tunes of remix songs played by DJs.

Fashion also played a vital role this season. Youths wearing new looks, with coloured streaks on hair and designer outfits could be seen on dance floors. “There’ll be dance programme and it’s going to be a great time,” says Supriya, a college student.

As a part of the celebration, a large number of residential colonies arranged special dinners and cultural programmes to welcome the New Year.

The celebration in residential colonies opened avenues for children to have a ball. New Market, Bittan Market and 10 No market could be seen crowded and people making merry.
