Owaisi, 42, was sent to Adilabad jail till January 22. The court rejected his petition seeking a transfer to a Hyderabad jail on medical grounds. His petition demanding special prisoner status was also rejected.
But his petition seeking to disallow multiple FIRs against him for allegedly delivering hate speeches was admitted by Andhra Pradesh high court.
The police sought seven days remand of Owaisi, the MLA of Chandrayangutta seat, Hyderabad, arguing that he was non-cooperative during probe.
The court asked the MLA to file a counter affidavit and posted the matter for Thursday.
The police had beefed up security in Adilabad district, about 300 km north of Hyderabad, in view of a protest called by the MIM.
Owaisi came under the scanner after allegedly delivering an inflammatory speech in Nirmal town of Adilabad district on December 22 last year. Videos of this speech uploaded on YouTube have gone viral.
