Pilgrims from Ajmer Urs flock to Agra

Thousands of pilgrims returning from the Ajmer Urs visit Agra to see the Taj Mahal and other historical monuments.

Agra is teeming with thousands of pilgrims returning from the Ajmer Urs of Khwaja Sahab eager to see the Taj Mahal and other historical monuments.

The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for their stay at the Kothi Meena Bazar ground, opening ration shops and medical help booths.

Traders selling petha, a sweetmeat which is an Agra speciality, are doing brisk business.

The Taj Mahal remains closed for the public on Friday but it opens for namazis for two hours in the afternoon. The past few years have seen a mad rush to enter the Taj Mahal free on Fridays.

Already hundreds of buses carrying pilgrims from Bihar, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh are in Agra.
