Plea accuses Manish Tewari of 'defaming' Hazare

A petition has been filed in a local court accusing Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari of "defaming" activist Anna Hazare and hurting the sentiments of Gandhians in the country.

A petition has been filed in a local court accusing Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari of "defaming" activist Anna Hazare and hurting the sentiments of Gandhians in the country.

The petitioner Mohammed Haneef Chisti has in his plea, filed in the Chief Judicial Magistrate court, urged that Tewari be tried for defaming Hazare. The petition will be heard in the court of Judicial Magistrate Suman Shrivastava on August 28.

In a scathing attack on Hazare, Tewari had on August 14 alleged that Justice P B Sawant Commission report had ripped apart the "moral core" of the activist as it "found him steeped in corruption from head to toe".
