“He needs to get back to work,” a doctor who examined the Prime Minister on Tuesday morning told ‘Hindustan Times’ requesting anonymity.

He refused to say more. But Singh is believed to have discussed with his medical team his plans to attend Parliament before it is adjourned.

There was no formal word on it from the Prime Minister’s Office. But sources in the Congress did not rule out the possibility of Singh turning up in the House on Wednesday or Thursday.

The doctor said the Prime Minister has recovered well from the redo bypass surgery he underwent at AIIMS exactly a month ago on January 24. Stitches were removed on February 8.

Singh started looking at select files and meeting senior officials in the third week after the surgery. That had made doctors attending on him conclude that he was “doing better than patients of his age” and could be fit to resume “normal work” before the six week post-surgery period initially set out for his complete recovery.
