The BJP-Shiv Sena opposition in the Maharashtra assembly on Sunday boycotted the Chief Minister's customary tea meeting on the eve of Monsoon Session of the state legislature.
It cited failure of the Congress-NCP alliance on several fronts, including farmers' suicides in Vidarbha.
A letter to this effect was sent to the Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh by the Shiv Sena, BJP and Swantra Bharat party.
The government has failed to provide jobs to the unemployed and failed in rectifying the worsening power situation, Ramdas Kadam, Leader of Opposition in state legislative assembly said.
Kadam, accompanied by BJP leader Gopinath Munde, said that the state government had also failed to tackle farmers' suicide and described the package announced by the Prime Minister on Saturday as an "eyewash".
He also alleged that the government had failed to maintain law and order, which was evident from the heightened activities of terrorist groups in the state.
Kadam said that not a single family affected by the devastating floods in 2005 was rehabilitated by the state government.
