Proposal of re-fencing at International border: IGP BSF

SC Vaid informed that a proposal of re-fencing at International Border has been forwarded to the govenment, reports Zorawar Singh Jamwal.

Inspector General of Police of Police (IGP), BSF, Jammu Frontier, SC Vaid on Wednesday informed that "a proposal of re-fencing at International Border, in at least 38 kms of area spread in various patches, has been prepared and forwarded to the central government for its approval."

Addressing a press conference at BSF Headquarters, Paloura, in Jammu on Wednesday, IGP S C Vaid informed that "earlier when work on border fencing was executed, there was no cease-fire following which, fencing at different points on IB was raised quite away from the exact boundary.”

“Now when cease-fire is in existence since past three years, BSF prepared a proposal in which entire patches, where fencing has been raised quite away from the boundary, were identified. The proposal has been forwarded to the government for its approval so that work could be executed to get the fencing near the exact boundary,” said IGP BSF S C Vaid.

Replying to a query, IGP BSF said that “the total area under the proposal is of 38 kms, however, the patches that would be re-fenced are at different locations and in between 500 mtrs to 700 mtrs. Over all, out of 186 km long IB, fencing has been completed upto 185.8 kms and remaining area of 1.2 km would completed by the end of current year."

However, when asked how much BSF has prepared in view of activities of improving defenses across the fencing, IGP S C Vaid said that “we are ready to face any kind of situation. Many a times they (Pakistani rangers) do undesirable activities but the same is conveyed to them through formal meetings and most of the time they do respond with stopping the same.
