"Rabri Devi, despite being a woman herself, is insensitive towards rise in crime against women in Bihar...It is very disgusting," said Tara Bhandari, national Vice President of BJP's women wing addressing a party's women convention.

"The newspapers are replete with reports of rising crime against women in the state. But, the state government had not initiated effective measures to improve the situation," she said.

Popular TV artist who performed the role of "saas" (mother-in-law) in the famous serial "saas bhi kabhi bahu thi" and a BJP leader, Apra Mehta lamented the poor condition of women in Bihar and stressed on the need to popularise education among them and their economic empowerment.

Many state level leaders of the BJP women wing advocated the party to give ticket to women candidates in the coming lok sabha elections in the state.

Union minister C P Thakur, state BJP president Gopal Narayan Singh, leader of the opposition in the state assembly Sushil Kumar Modi and state party vice president and Spokesperson Kiran Ghai also lamented the poor condition of women in the state while addressing the function.
