The afternoon torrential rain has brought down the sales of the products, which are usually on its full peak during the festival season. Not only this, the vendors of ‘lai and lawa’ too had to face heavy loss due to humid climate.
According to Ram Kumar Sahu, a vendor of ‘lai and lawa’, “Dut to this unpredictable rain we have suffered heavy loss.”
Till the evening, almost all the markets in the city looked deserted and the enthusiasm of the festival faded away altogether. Shyam Singh, a utensil seller at Shastri Nagar said, “Not one customer came to purchase any utensil till late afternoon.”
Tarun Srivastava, a seller of readymade garments said, “I had ordered for more fresh variety of clothes for the festival season but this rain has swept away all the enthusiasm and excitement among the people usually seen during Dhanteras.” Meanwhile, firecracker sellers also suffered maximum loss due to rain.
Ashok Srivastava, a fire cracker seller said, “It was really irritating, as most of our crackers costing thousands of rupee remained dumped due rain in the city.”
