Bhiwani’s Ashish Sangwan, 29, an engineer from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, secured the 12th rank in his third attempt in the civil services exam 2015, results of which came out on Tuesday. He has a Masters in Science in computer sciences from Georgia Tech University in the US, after which he had returned to India “to work for its progress”.
Ashish had secured 607th rank in the 2013 civil services exam and is currently training in the Indian Railways and Traffic Services at Lucknow. He tried again in 2014 but couldn’t improve much. In his third attempt, he said he “hit the bull’s eye”. “Since I’m a computer sciences graduate, I would like to bring more transparency into Indian governance through information technology,” he said. His interests include badminton, guitar, and the stock market.
Another Bhiwani lad, 32-year-old Nitin Sangwan, secured the 28th rank. Hailing from Badal village in Charkhi Dadri sub-division of the district, Sangwan did his mechanical engineering from PDM College in Bahadurgarh and moved on to pursue an MBA from IIT-Madras in Chennai. Having worked at Infosys, Sangwan told HT that his real calling was public service as he likes teaching kids and tries to donate most of his time in teaching village children. “I am extremely happy for myself and my family,” he said.
He had secured 359th rank in 2014, and was training in the Indian Revenue Services (IRS) in Faridabad. Wanting to get a better rank, he worked hard for the 28th rank that he achieved in his fourth attempt.
