"I have handed over the letter to Sonia to facilitate formation of a secular Government as early as possible," RJD President Laloo Prasad Yadav told reporters soon after his unanimous election as the leader of the Parliamentary Party.

To a question whether RJD would join the Government, he said "Parliamentary Party has authorised me to take a decision on the matter and it will be done at the right time."

Asserting that he was not hungry for power, Yadav said that for the sake of dislodging BJP, he had given a similar letter to Sonia in 1998 to form a non-BJP secular Government.

Asked to comment on Samajwadi Party not being invited for Sunday's dinner meeting at Sonia's residence, Yadav said he was not aware of it. "I do not know. I did not prepare the guest list," he added.

The RJD leader, however, maintained he had no reservation against Samajwadi Party's participation in the Government saying, "I have not said anything against anybody."

Earlier, addressing the Parliamentary Party meeting, Yadav congratulated the newly-elected MPs and thanked the people of Bihar for rejecting BJP and its allies.

He said the aspirations of the people would be kept in mind while formulating the Common Minimum Programme.
