Responding to a request made on Twitter, the ministry of railways promptly arranged medical assistance and milk for an 18-month-old child who fell ill while travelling in Marudhar Express on Tuesday.
Gyaneshwar Mishra, travelling in B 1 coach of Marudhar Express boarded the train at Varanasi. He was travelling to Gotan, near Jodhpur, along with his wife Satya Mishra and 18-month-old boy Aditya.
Talking to HT at Agra Fort Railway Station Gyaneshwar said, “When I woke up around 4.30 am, I found my son was suffering from fever. I sent a tweet to the railway ministry asking for medical assistance.”
“Minutes after my tweet, I got a response promising medical assistance at Etawah railway station,” he said.
He further added, “When the train reached Etawah station, a doctor came to examine my son at 5am.” Besides the medical check-up, a bottle of milk was also provided for the child. Railway officials then inquired about the child’s health at regular intervals, said Gyaneshwar.
The boy’s mother Satya Mishra praised and thanked railway officials for the quick response.

{{/usCountry}}Divisional railway manager (DRM) Agra Prabhash Kumar said, “It is our priority to provide immediate facilities to passengers and to ensure a safe journey.”
Ticket traveller examiner (TTE) Virendra Singh Thenua said he came to know about the problem after receiving a call from a railway official. Thereafter, medical assistance was provided to Aditya at Etawah station.
“We have been inquiring about the baby’s health and providing milk and other products to the couple,” Virendra added.
Station master NK Agrawal also inquired about the boy’s health at Agra Fort Railway Station. “The boy is doing fine. Under Union minister Suresh Prabhu, the railway is making all efforts to address the passengers’ problems while travelling on a priority basis,” said Agrawal.
