The Berlin-based Transparency International (TI) has decided to award slain NHAI official Satyendra Kumar Dubey and Bangladeshi journalist Manik Chandra Saha with its International Honesty Award for their courageous attempt to report wrong doings in their respective countries.

A TI release said that the award will be handed over to a representative from their families or their governments at the annual general meeting of TI in Kenya on October 8.

Saha, who was killed in a bomb attack near his office in Bangladesh's southern Khulna city on January 15 this year, will be the first Bangladeshi to be honoured with the award since its introduction in 2000.

He had been working for the BBC Bangla service and the New Age newspaper.

Dubey was mysteriously killed in Bihar's Gaya district last year, days after forwarding a letter to the Prime Minister's Office in which he reportedly revealed the operation of a hardcore nexus between the NHAI, politicians and Bihar's builders mafia.
