Senior journalist Prakash Deshmukh passed away in Mumbai on Saturday after a brief illness. He was 58.

Deshmukh had retired from leading Marathi daily Sakal earlier this year.
During a career spanning over three years, Deshmukh worked with various media organisations and wrote extensively on mill workers and slum dwellers' issues.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh expressed condolences over the senior scribe's death. Republican Party of India President Ramdas Athavale said the world of media has been deprived of a sincere and dedicated journalist.
