Six held for running betting racket in Gurgaon

Police seized Rs 1.49 lakh, one television, one laptop, four recording systems, eight mobile phones and other electronic gadgets from their possession.

With the arrest of six persons, police on Monday claimed to have busted a cricket-betting racket in Gurgaon.

Police raided a South City Heights residence and arrested the youths who were allegedly organising betting on the tri-series final between Australia and West Indies being played in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday evening, Senior Superintendent of Police Hanif Qureshi said.

The arrested were identified as Rajesh Kumar, Virender Kumar and Satish Chawla, residents of Gurgaon and Suresh Goyal, Atul Srivastav and Parveen Kumar, resident of Delhi.

Police seized Rs 1.49 lakh, one television, one laptop, four recording systems, eight mobile phones and other electronic gadgets from their possession, Qureshi said, adding that a case has been registered.
