Bodies of two students identified as Bhanu Pant, native of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh and Siddharth Khanna from Ahmedabad were fished out from the canal by fire brigade, Adalaj police station sources said.
According to police, the bodies have been kept in the cold room of the civil hospital as Bhanu's parents were yet to arrive from Ujjain, while Siddharth's parents were out of station.
In another incident, three youths from Nobelnagar area on the outskirts of the city drowned when they went to swim in the Sabarmati river near Bhat village.
They have been identified as Narendra Gohil, Yogesh Pandya and Jigar Barot.
The body of another youth Rohit Thakore, who according to police was "mentally unsound" was fished out from the canal.
A native of Sertha village, Thakore had left his house this morning, police said.
