"While the Manmohan Singh-led government has ignored the nation's interests, the opposition BJP as well as the Left parties are not expressing their protest in a convincing way", he told a press meet in Kozhikode.

It would observe fast at Kannur, Kozhikode, Kochi, Pala and Thiruvananthapuram on October two, he said.

Besides, the Parishad had also decided to convene "People's Parliament" across the country to create awareness among the public on the dangers of the deal and in protest against the government's refusal to call for a debate on the issue in both houses of the Parliament, Jacob said.

"The BJP and Left parties are not serious in demanding such a debate as they fear that their stand on the issue will get exposed before the people", he alleged.

The Parishad would join hands with like-minded political parties opposed to the `anti-people' policies of the UPA government at the Centre, he added.
