The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to lift the ban imposed on the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) since 2001.

A Bench of Justice Arijit Pasayat and Justice LS Panta made it clear that it was not inclined to entertain the SIMI petition.

The SIMI counsel then withdrew the petition, which was dismissed as "withdrawn".
