The Sports Department, which had organised the talent search programme for identifying promising cricketers a few months back, is enthusiastic by the response.

“I have seen that there are a number of promising players at college level who want to excel in their chosen game but the lack of proper guidance restrains them. Through this scheme we would able to hone skills of those players”, said Director Sports Sanjay Chaudhary.

The success of the cricket talent search has motivated to go for such schemes, he added. Under the programme, the department has prepared a team of coaches who will search for the players.

The team members include NIS wrestling coach Fatima Bano, NIS boxing coach Amanpreet and others. The coaches will first visit Nutan College on Thursday. Later, the team will visit MLB Girls College and other girls’ colleges of the City.

“At the initial stage, the scheme is for girls’ colleges, later it will include other colleges also”, Chaudhary said. The department has given major emphasis on indoor games like boxing, wrestling and badminton.
