A premier technological event of the institute, it aims at providing glimpses of the future of science and technology, to the students and researchers and help them implement their ideas for national development.

Talking to newsmen here on Monday, Dean of students affairs of IIT-K Dr Prawal Sinha said, “This year, the sponsors of Techkriti are: Adobe, Bharat Petroleum, Digit, GE, Juniper Networks, Mentor Graphics, Naukri.com, Schlumberger and Sun Microsystems. The Raymond Shop is the co-title sponsor.”
Dr Prawal further said that with India 2050 as the theme, Techkriti’06 deals with interface between society and technology and sticks to commitment to “Need-based technology, entrepreneurship and vision,” the students feel.
This will allow the industry to showcase innovative ideas and technologies and provide a platform to discuss and develop a strategy to tackle the future problems, Dr Prawal added.
Ind-Ex 2050 being the theme, the Indian Tricolor will do the honors. Keeping up with the technological spirit of the event, there will be RC planes painting the skies with the pride of the nation,” Dr Prawal said.

Apart from the usual events, certain new items have been introduced this time. They are: Cosmos, Get Set Go and Turbulence. An astrophotography workshop will be part of Cosmos along with star-hunting and an astro quiz. The Get Set Go competition is aimed at designing a car empowered by chemical reaction, which could travel a particular distance, Dr Jalota.
“Turbulence is aimed at providing a platform to all the budding designers of tomorrow’s aerospace vehicles to explore the open skies. It will have two contests — one for Aero Model Designers and another for Remote Controlled Plane fliers,” Dr Jalota said.
Events Chairman of the Techkriti Saurav Aneja said Techkriti, promises to guide and promote technology amongst students and participants. Many eminent personalities from the field of science and technology would deliver talks
