A clash over a trivial issue turned the happy occasion of marriage into a tragedy.
A 19-year-old youth was killed on Wednesday at Madhuban Colony, Loni, after a fight broke out between two groups over who would dance first at the function.
According to the police, the victim, Vishal Kumar, had gone to attend the function with his friend Jitendra Kumar. The victim and his friend wanted to dance first.
But another group objected to this and an altercation ensued, the police said.
Soon, some others too joined and both groups started hurling stones at each other.
“A fight broke out between the two groups as both groups wanted to dance first. Soon, it reached the streets and boys of both the groups hurled bricks at each other, in which Vishal got injured. He sustained critical head injuries,” said circle officer Arvind Kumar Yadav.
He added that Vishal was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at about 1am. The doctors at the hospital said he sustained serious head injuries that resulted in the death of the youth.
“A case under Section 304 (punishment for culpable homicide, not amounting to murder) of the Indian penal code has been registered against unidentified persons at the Loni police station. The altercation led to the clash. The investigation is on,” Yadav said.

{{/usCountry}}However, no arrest was made till late Thursday evening. The police said investigation was on to find out whether the youths were acting under the influence of alcohol.
