Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should not be "faulted" for his visits abroad but wished that he engaged with India's traditional friends such as Africa.

"PM Modi can be faulted for a lot of things but travelling abroad is the wrong one to find fault with, he should travel & engage overseas," Omar wrote on microblogging site Twitter.

"Just wish that with the glamorous destinations like France & Germany he would also visit our traditional friends in Africa & elsewhere," the National Conference working president added.

Modi has visited several countries, including the United States, Australia and Germany, since becoming the Prime Minister in May last year.
