A two-day national conference of the National Seva Doctors Association (NSDA) will begin in Thane from February 7.

A two-day national conference of the National Seva Doctors Association (NSDA) will begin in Thane from February 7.

The two-year old association which has been formed for the Goud-Banjara community will deliberate on problems faced by them along with other social,scientific and cultural issues, Association President Charan Jadhav told reporters here.

He said that there were 6.84 crore Banjaras in the entire country and they have the maximum representation in Maharashtra.

The other states where members of the Goud Banjara community lived include AP, Karnataka, Gujrat and Rajastan.

The main topics that will go for discussion will include Vision 2020 in health sector, health schemes for people below poverty line, spirituality in medical practice, caste certificate validity and guidance on admission process in medical education.

Our intention is to educate the members regarding the arts and culture of our community and make youngsters aware of it, Jadhav said.

The thrust of the conference is with regards to social upliftment and serving the under-previliged. Our community for years have had no proper direction, support and guidance. Besides it is scattered and efforts are on to bring them together, he said.
