At least six people were injured in a sectarian clash between two communities in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district over the issue of offloading bricks in a paddy field, police said on Monday.

Police said the incident occurred at Pawli Khas, which has almost equal number of Hindus and Muslims, under Kankerkhera area on Sunday evening.

"Six persons have sustained injuries in the clash. No arrests have been made so far," said circle officer Vineet Bhatnagar.

The injured have been admitted to the district hospital and heavy force has been deployed in the area to prevent further clashes.

The incident happened after Kapil objected to Bhuria, who along with Munna, had offloaded bricks in his paddy field. An altercation took place between them and both sides engaged in brick batting. They also accused each other of using firearms in the clash.

District magistrate Pankaj Yadav and senior superintendent of police DC Dubey rushed to the village along with heavy force and controlled the situation.
