Upset over his younger brother getting married before him and settling down in life, a 35-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by setting himself on fire at his house in Coimbatore.

Nagarathinam, a painter by profession and resident of Kuniyamuthur, doused himself with kerosene and set himself ablaze two days ago, police said.

The painter was dejected as despite many enquiries, no right alliance was coming to him. He was totally dejected when his brother got married, police said.

"Relatives and neighbours admitted him to the government hospital here, but Nagarathinam succumbed to his injuries last evening," they said.
