Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Saturday asked the party workers to make effective use of Right to Information Act (RTI) to keep track of various central government schemes being implemented in Gujarat and criticised the BJP government in the state for the "slow" implementation of these schemes.

"Congress workers across the state should use this Right to Information Act effectively to know whether the money given to the state government by the Centre is being properly used or not," Gandhi told a gathering of party workers and tribal youths at the concluding session of five-day 'Jan Mitra Shibir' (training-cum-enrollment programme).

"Congressmen should try and understand RTI and spread awareness about it among fellow party workers," she said.

"Huge funds have been allocated to Gujarat under various central government schemes. But they are not being utilised properly," Gandhi said.

The Congress President came down heavily on the Narendra Modi-led BJP government in Gujarat for the "slow" implentation of various central government schemes meant for welfare of tribal, dalit and weaker sections of the society.
