Voters to decide Gehlot, Raje's fate

Over 3.38 crore electorate would give their verdict on Monday in an Ashok Gehlot versus Vasundhara Raje battle in Rajasthan assembly to decide who should be their new Chief Minister.

Over 3.38 crore electorate would give their verdict on Monday in an Ashok Gehlot versus Vasundhara Raje battle in Rajasthan assembly to decide who should be their leader for the next five years.

Using electroninc voting machines for the first time, the voters would exercise their franchise to elect 200 assembly members from among 1541 candidates in the fray.

There are 35,689 polling stations in the desert state of which 8,939 have been identified as sensitive or hypersensitive.

Although fortnight long intense and aggressive election campaign particularly by Congress and BJP, remained peaceful barring a few minor incidents but administration is taking no chance and deploying 75,000 security personnel to maintain law and order during the polling and ensure free and fair election.

While the ruling Congress has fielded its candidates on all the 200 seats, its main rival BJP is contesting 197 seats leaving three others to its ally in Vajpayee government Janata Dal (United).
