Rubbishing claims that it imitated the Congress in preparing its manifesto, BJP on Saturday said it was "utterly wrong" to suggest it "imbibed anything" from the ruling party's poll document.
"It is like the Reserve Bank promise on a currency note, our manifesto is our promise of delivery and performance. It is utterly wrong to say that we imbibed anything from the Congress manifesto," party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters here today.
The Rs 2 foodgrain program is not one-upmanship with Congress; it was there in the Vajpayee regime. The Congress is the culprit here, who stopped the facility for the poor as it took over, he added.
The saffron party unveiled its plan to print 10 crore copies of the highlights of its manifesto for distribution among people in the rup-up to the elections.
"It is sad that some people interpret nationalism as communalism. Revoking of Article 370, ban on cow slaughter and construction of Ram temple is all according to the spirit of the country's constitution," Javadekar said.
The party said that UPA is a sinking ship with its allies like PMK, TRS, LJP, RJD and SP already leaving it and NCP and TMC clarifying that Manmohan Singh is a Prime Ministerial candidate of the Congress and not UPA, he added.
