Abdul Nasser Madani is a Muslim political leader from Kerala, India. He is allegedly an extremist. There are charges on him for organising terrorist activities. Also, he is charged for having links with terrorist organisations including Lashkar-e-Toiba.
Madani has been charged for inflammatory speeches, due to which he has several police cases against him. However, he enjoys support of many political parties and NGOs in an effort to benefit from Muslim sympathy and grab votes.
Madani is looked upon as a hero by Kerala Muslims and also as a a suspicious perwson mainly by the non-Muslims of the state. Madani, however, denies being involved in all types of fundamentalist activities and predicates himself secular.
Terror charges
In 1992, after the demolition of Babri Masjid, he launched the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with the objective of having allinace with Muslim-Dalit-backward caste.
In 1993, Maudani founded an outfit known as the Islamic Sewak Sangh, which was soon banned.
On April 8 2000, Maudani was arrested in connection with 1998 Coimbatore bombings in which 60 people were killed and was imprisoned for eight years. He was released on August 1, 2007 after being acquitted of all charges.
In June 2009, Madani was charge-sheeted in the Bangalore blast case.

On August 17 2010, Karnataka police arrested Abdul Nasser Madani in connection with the 2008 Bangalore blasts case.
