Three days after a 28-day-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Asif Nangla village of Bulandshahar on Saturday, the district magistrate on Tuesday formed a team of two doctors to re-examine the rape victim before taking action against the accused.
The decision was taken after Bulandshahr district magistrate B Chandrakala and senior superintendent of police Anant Dev visited the village and met the families of both the accused and the victim. After interacting with both families and the villagers, the DM ordered the formation of a two-member team of two senior female doctors for the victim’s re-examination to verify charges of rape.
“Action against the accused would be initiated on the basis of the findings of this medical team,” said the SSP.
Police sources said a previous medical examination had failed to establish that the infant had been raped and even the circumstantial evidence did not point to the role of the accused in the case. Police said that last year, the girl’s father, who was an alcoholic, had accused another villager of raping his wife and had finally agreed to resolve the matter after the accused paid him Rs 10,000 as compromise.
On Saturday, the girl’s mother had accused their neighbour Naveen Kumar, who is a mason in Gurgaon and had come to the village to cast his vote in the panchayat election, of raping her daughter when the couple had gone to cast their votes. She alleged that she had found her daughter bleeding profusely on the terrace and Kumar was found loitering outside the house. A police complaint had been lodged in the matter.
