Sunrisers Hyderabad are also sweating over the fitness of star batsman Yuvraj Singh. The left-hand batsman, recuperating from an injured finger, will be undergoing a fitness test in the evening.

SRH face Kolkata Knight Riders in a must-win playoff match at Bangalore’s Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday.

“Ashish Nehra won’t be fit for remainder of the tournament. Yuvraj will be undergoing a fitness test this evening. We’ll be giving him every opportunity to prove his fitness and at this stage, we’re reasonably confident,” Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody said today.

Nehra, the veteran left-arm pacer, had suffered a hamstring injury during SRH’s game against Rising Pune Supergiant on May 6 and has failed to recover.

Ashish Nehra has played just six games for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, picking up seven wickets at an average of 24.62. The 36-year-old fast bowler had to bow out towards the fag-end of the tournament last season as well with a hamstring injury.

However, if Yuvraj Singh is ruled out, it will be a cause of concern as the left-hander has been handy in the middle order for the defending champions, scoring 243 runs in 10 innings at an average of 30.37.
