Tim Southee keeps Mumbai Indians bus waiting for toilet break

But it is probably nobody’s fault that such a facility was not available as it would be hard to foretell that the New Zealander would need a washroom on the team bus, least he keep the MI Paltan waiting. (IPL 2017 STANDINGS)

The incident took place last week and a detailed video of the proceedings was uploaded to social media platform Twitter by Mumbai Indians spinner Harbhajan Singh.

The prankster from Punjab saw the hilarious side of Southee forcing the Mumbai Indians bus to wait while he took an abrupt toilet break which caused a delay in proceedings.

Bhajji then begins to have a little fun, asking the Mumbai Indians players if they know where Southee may have gone, for the benefit of the viewers.

“Do you know where is he going? Does anybody know where Timmy is going?” Harbhajan inquires of his teammates who are laughing hysterically at this point of time in the video because of the hilarity of the situation.

“We have just stopped on the roadside and Timmy is missing.” Harbhajan then informs the viewers, panning to show that the Mumbai Indians bus has in fact stopped in the middle of a busy street mid-journey.

Even the usually dignified Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is seen in splits, unable to maintain his composure as teammates offer suggestions for what Southee might be doing.

After a brief interlude in the video that shows the door of a men’s water closet, with hilarious sound effects to boot, Southee is seen returning to the bus to loud cheers.

“How was it, Timmy? Was it good?” Bhajji asks to which he receives several thumbs-up signs from the New Zealander, followed by an approving, “Not bad toilets in there,” Southee tells the camera.

Southee isn’t the only cricketer to have left his team in wait while answering nature’s call in recent months.

Australian opener Matt Renshaw infamously left the crease to visit the loo during the first of the four-Test series between India and Australia earlier this year.

While Southee’s toilet needs might have been a hiccup for the Mumbai Indians, it seemed to have little effect to their on-field performances.

Mumbai Indians continued their top form in the 2017 Indian Premier League season by beating Kings XI Punjab on Thursday.

Jos Buttler’s maiden Indian Premier League half-century (77 runs from 37 balls) was the perfect foil to Hashim Amla’s first IPL century (104* runs from 60 balls) as Mumbai Indians won by eight wickets sit atop the table with 10 points from six matches.
