In an apparent case of land grab, Bhanwata villagers under Pisnagan police station allegedly beat up members of a Dalit family, uprooted their wheat crops and molested women.
The case came to the fore after a complaint was filed by Dhram Ram Raigar at Pisnagan police station on Friday.
Praveen Jain, additional superintendent of police, Ajmer, said after receiving the complaint, he had directed Pisnagan station house officer to lodge an FIR and expeditiously inquire into the matter.
Accused Dashtrah Singh, Raju Singh Pushpendra Singh and Vijju Singh, members of the Rajput community reached Dharma Raigar’s house on Thursday night and started hurling abuses to the family. “They pulled my family, including my wife and daughter in-law and beat them badly with sticks and iron rods,” alleged Dhram. “They even tore off my wife’s and daughter in- law’s clothes,” he added. Later in the night, the accused using their tractors damaged the crops, he said with tears in his eyes.
When asked for the reason for such a treatment, Dhram said that he believed that the accused wanted to take hold of his sixbhiga land. He said they have even threatened him to vacate the land.
This is the sixth incident of atrocity on Dalits since January last year, according to Ramesh Chand Bansal, district coordinator of the Centre for Dalit Rights.
