Jodhpur: 19-year-old woman hurt in acid attack

When she (the victim) reached Urjavihar Colony, an unidentified youth riding a bike came from opposite direction and poured a bottle filled with acid upon her, the police said. The woman managed to save her face from the attack, but suffered acid burns on the left side of her neck and shoulder.

A 19-year-old woman suffered severe burn injuries in an acid attack by an unidentified motorcycle-borne youth here on Monday.

The victim was admitted to the Mahatma Gandhi Hospital with burn injuries on the left side of her neck and shoulder.

According to the Chopasani police, Reshma Bano, daughter of Amzad, resident of Gulistan Colony, had left her house at 7.30 am for her friend’s house at Urjavihar Colony.

When she reached Urjavihar Colony, an unidentified youth riding a bike came from opposite direction and poured a bottle filled with acid upon her, the police said. The woman managed to save her face from the attack, but suffered acid burns on the left side of her neck and shoulder.

The woman could not identify the bike-borne youth, as he was wearing a helmet, the police said. The police are investigating the matter.
