A group of devotees opened fire at another group of devotees on Sunday morning in Jhunjhunu’s Khetri area, about 164 km north of Jaipur, following an altercation that a religious function the previous night, police said.
Four people were injured, including three who suffered bullet injuries. They have been referred to SMS hospital in Jaipur. One received a bullet in the abdomen while the other two were hit in their legs, said Jhunjhunu superintendent of police Manish Agrawal.
The trouble started during a jagran at a temple in Dhani Dhahar Wala, Khetri, on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday when an altercation happened over loud music between two groups.
Around 11 am on Sunday, one group came armed with weapons and fired at the other. Both the groups were from nearby villages.
Police have registered a case for rioting and attempt to murder against the accused and have started an investigation.
