Rahul Gandhi reaches Rajasthan, to begin padyatra in Hanumangarh

Rahul Gandhi, in his 9-km padyatra, will cover Khotanwali, Surawali and Amarsinghwala villages in Hanumangarh district and interact with farmers and different groups of people. His padyatra will conclude in Amarsinghwala at 5pm.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday reached Rajasthan for a two-day visit during which he will undertake a 'padyatra' in Hanumangarh district and address party leaders in Jaipur.

"Gandhi's aircraft landed at the Suratgarh air force station," said Sriganganagar's superintendent of police Rahul Katakey.

State Congress committee president Sachin Pilot, Leader of opposition in Rajasthan assembly Rameshwar Dudi and former chief minister Ashok Gehlot received Gandhi at the airport.

Gandhi then left for a resort where he is scheduled to meet the party office bearers. After the brief meeting, he will leave for Khotanwali village in Hanumangarh by road from where he will start his padyatra at 12pm.

In his 9-km padyatra, Gandhi will cover Khotanwali, Surawali and Amarsinghwala villages in Hanumangarh district and interact with farmers and different groups of people. After concluding the padyatra in Amarsinghwala at 5pm, he will leave for Suratgarh. Gandhi will stay in state capital Jaipur for the night.

Gandhi will address a conference of party functionaries at Birla Auditorium in Jaipur on Friday.
